GERTIE needs your vote to win $10,000

Check our our Community Champions page  for more details and read past episodes of “It Happened on GERTIE”

The GERTIE bus entered the BC Hydro Community Champions Program and we’ve been picked as one of the 15 finalists!!   The public voting period is from October 15th to November 15th. If we get enough votes to be in the top five, then GERTIE will receive $10,000 to help keep the wheels on the bus going round and round. In order to have a chance at winning we have to get every GERTIE supporter to vote every day throughout the voting period. To vote go to: https://champions.bchydro.com/entries/view/island-futures.   GERTIE’s own video bid can be viewed here:

If you like, we’ll send you a brief e-mail reminder to vote every day of the campaign.  Just send an e-mail to go.gertie.go@gmail.com and we’ll put you on the list.   You can stop the daily reminders at any time by replying with the subject line “No reminders”, or “Weekly reminders” if you prefer.

NEWS FLASH:  Bill Miner and friends are writing a 30-part mystery—with one instalment included in each of the daily reminder e-mails.  That’s the only way to get the whole story, and to have a chance at winning a great prize!  See more below.

Please distribute this message far and wide—to friends, grandparents, uncles, mothers-in-law, children and grandchildren—on Gabriola and elsewhere!  We’re up against some stiff competition, so we need all the help we can get.

“It Happened on Gertie”

Each day we shall introduce vaguely familiar characters caught up in curious situations, taking you deeper and deeper into a labyrinth of intrigue. Return each day to vote for Gertie and to receive clues that may help you unravel the puzzle. If you are a particularly skilled sleuth, you may wish to offer your solution long before it is revealed on the final day. Just make sure you haven’t fallen victim to some carefully laid trap or red herring.  Good Luck!
